EpicCare EMR helps us better care our patients

Comentarios: With EpicCare, clinics can streamline their workflows using personalized screens, dashboards and specialty applications. The application's finance module allows clinics to track payments, bills and invoices. EpicCare is a mobile-ready solution, allowing both doctors and patients to access information on their Apple devices.

Puntos a favor:

I love patient portal and e-prescribing features which helps us meet the Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements. The tool also supports telemedicine options that allow our doctors to communicate with patients via a video platform and offers mobile and tablet functionality. EpicCare MyChart allows patients to view medical information, message doctors, schedule appointments and manage medical history via a personalized portal.

Puntos en contra:

The health maintenance options could be better, and easier to see and mark as complete. Also out would be easier if when you marked something got a preference it wouldn't add a copy to the main menu. Upgrade to EPIC 2017 is a fight.

Comentarios: Epic does make healthcare tasks easier at times however it is often difficult to make changes.

Comentarios: Overall, I feel EPIC is easy to navigate and user-friendly outside of external systems real time updates.

I have used several versions of EPIC, and I feel the layout is weel thought out and organized. The system is user friendly as I have trained employees on the system, and they catch on fast.

The system lags when connecting information to external systems like food and nutrition for example in regard to real time diet order updates.

Comentarios: I self-taught with Epic. It's very user friendly.

Epic makes it impossible to miss anything during the charge capture phase. There are fewer denials from payers/insurance companies and greater accuracy in capturing charges.

I have nothing negative to say about epic care. I have had no need to use customer service so I'm unable to review that area.

Comentarios: I have been using EPIC for the past 6 years. Without EPIC I would not be able to do my job effectively.

You can do a deep dive of someone's medical history and see the bigger picture of what might be going on with someone's health by reviewing provider documentations and collaborating with the care team.

There are so many things in EPIC that I am unfamiliar with because I only use certain features. It's not always easy to find things if you don't use them all the time.

Comentarios: Overall it’s easy to use and has a lot of tools to chart with. There’s multiple ways to do the same task but once you learn one way it’s easy to use.

Easy set up and easy to open up patients charts. There’s a lot of personalization available. Aesthetically pleasing and can change the colors/look of it.

There’s too much clicking to do one task. Too many ways to do the same task, so teaching someone how to use it can be difficult.

Comentarios: Exhausting. Worst system I’ve used for documenting notes and workflow.

Billing and coding. I believe this is why it was purchased

Takes forever to document a visit. Too many clicks. Hard stops. Too many ways to do tasks. Workflow is terrible.

User-friendly Service

EpicCare is easy to navigate and is visually appealing. The simplicity in its design makes it very user-friendly and provides efficiency.

Puntos en contra:

I do not particularly like that there is no user guide to show all the features EpicCare offers. I am aware that EpicCare has numerous tools and resources that can especially be useful in my role as a Research Coordinator. It is difficult finding those tools and learning how to best use them without guidance.

I thought the scheduling aspect of EpicCare was a little cumbersome. I don't work with scheduling much though.

As both a clinical, healthcare worker and healthcare manager, epic is very much the ideal EMR. Not only is it easy to use and train new staff on but having everything needed for different positions within the clinic and hospital is extremely valuable. being able to customize views for different positions, as well as access levels order writing has been very helpful

Because epic is so integrated and allows health services to function completely. It is a very expensive software, and may not be reasonable for a single provider or very small, healthcare operation.

The industry leader for reliable Electronic Medical Record

Comentarios: Electronic Medical Record is the core of a health care system. Epic is the cream of the crop. It is *not* just another application. It can displace/replace many of your other applications, so we saw dozens of IT people move away from applications and systems that were replaced and into Epic roles. If your organization devotes the time and resources to it, you are nearly guaranteed success. At a price $$$, of course. From an end-user perspective, it takes a while for clinicians to get used to it. For example, in Epic there may be many more steps for a given procedure as compared to another EMR, but those steps are there to make sure that the application is bullet-proof, and users get used to it and appreciate it after a short time.

Puntos a favor:

Epic, the company, makes sure that your implementation succeeds, stays stable and reliable, and performs fast. They (Epic) constantly monitor performance, DR/BC availability, and uptime and tell you *exactly* how you should configure your environment. Your are absolutely not on your own with Epic.

Puntos en contra:

The flip side to the Epic company being so involved in your setup and operation is that it takes a lot of internal employees to make it happen Epic's prescribed way, and there is a lot of internal employee involvement in setup, testing, and ongoing maintenance. In other words, Epic requires a lot of TLC, but it is extremely stable and reliable.

Comentarios: Overall, I like Epic and think that it makes ordering and charting things easy when you make them into pre-programmed lists.

Puntos a favor:

I like that you are easily able to chart on patients, you can make preset templates for charting and can preset order sets, and you are able to do everything electronically, including connecting to the PACs system and requesting documentation from other companies. You are also able to switch between inpatient and outpatient settings easily. Dragon is very compatible with this system.

Puntos en contra:

I dislike that the EPIC system can vary depending on different healthcare setups, and can cost a lot. Epic can also take a while to catch on to, depending on how well you know computers. Finally, it can sometimes be hard to find different patients and patient lists on the inpatient systems if your healthcare system is large.

The Biggest Tool Used in Healthcare Today!

Comentarios: My overall experience with EPIC has been good after I learned how to use it. While it's definitely not the easiest tool in the world to use, it's without a doubt highly advanced and still great.

What I really like about EPIC is truly how popular it has become and the way it has become a standardized part of healthcare. Almost every medical facility and hospital use this for patient management and what I really like are that because it's so popular, I can learn EPIC and can expect to continue to use this regardless of which healthcare facility I work in or am I a part of.

What I dislike about EPIC is that it is definitely not simple to use and there is a lot of learning required. In fact, it is somewhat intense and even required for me to attend multiple days of training sponsored by my workplace to learn how to use this.
