Time for Timeular

5,0 hace 2 años

Comentarios: I've been using Timeular for years and I love how easy it is to use and the updates they have made to the software over the years.

Puntos a favor:

Being able to see what hours my team have done on various projects has helped me to stay on top of billable hours as my team has grown. The function to be able to round times up or down for easy reporting AND have the report in decimals rather than hours and minutes saves unbelievable amounts of my time too.

Puntos en contra:

I'd love to have more sides on the cube and even be able to schedule regular reports and format them with my company branding to go to clients direct each week/month etc.

Timeular - This software and device is great for any business that needs to track their time.

5,0 hace 2 años

Comentarios: So Timeular has solved my problem of knowing how many hours I have used on a project and thus allowed me to accurately price my jobs.

Puntos a favor:

I have been with Timeular from the start, and I have been impressed I invested in a lifetime membership with the device. With having a physical device on the desk it allows me to:1. remember to track my time 2. I can easily change from one project to another very easily I also like Timeular because of the ability to have different projects and then tags - this means I can track how much time I spend on any task and any project.

Puntos en contra:

The only issue I have had is not being able to connect my calendar to Timeular. But this is a new feature that I haven't fully explored yet.

Timeular - Almost Great

3,0 hace 6 años

Comentarios: I requested the filtering on calendar feature about 1 year ago and it still hasn't been added, so either they don't take feature requests from users or I'm the only one who cares about this feature. Also the connectivity issue is a huge issue for me. Quite often it wont start tracking a task until I fiddle with turning it off and on a few times. Other times it won't stop tracking and I'll come back to it the next day and realize my tracking never stopped and I've got to figure it all out by hand.

Puntos a favor:

Downright simple to use (when it works). Assign tasks to your Zei and flip. Calendar view gives a fantastic overview of your hours tracked each day over the month.

Puntos en contra:

Zei hardly ever connects properly. I've even had a new one sent to me but I still have a ton of connection issues. Very unfortunate. Another huge issue I have is there is no way to filter calendar view by task. To get my total daily hours for a specific task I need to export to excel and fiddle with filtering. Would absolutely love to have filtering built into the calendar view.

A tactile, gorgeous way to track your time

5,0 hace 5 años

Comentarios: Overall, it's a really lovely and intuitive timetracking tool. I initially used it at my office job so I could report on how much of my time was being spent for various products and departments. As a freelancer/independent contractor, it's a fantastic way to see exactly how much time is being spent on tasks and clients. Great for billing and adjusting pricing.

Puntos a favor:

I love the clean UX that so beautifully displays where your time goes, and the connection with a physical object is brilliant. It's so much easier to flip the 8-sided desk device when it's time to switch tasks. It's one less thing to have open on your desktop while you work. There are now several ways to tag tasks by more than just the overall category, giving a lot of flexibility in how work is categorized and sorted.

Puntos en contra:

I was an early adopter of the software, so it's changed a good bit since I've started using it. At first there were some finicky things like it was hard/not intuitive how to edit a task duration. It's much easier now, but every so often something small will come up like that that's not intuitive. I would like to see more in-depth analytics and ways to export the data.

Best purchase ever!

5,0 hace 6 años

Comentarios: Our entire team has adopted Timeular based on my endorsement and seeing the value it provided to tracking my work. Now, we're ahead of the curve as our entire department is being asked to track hours and we already have an effective solution. I love that Timeular is a physical object anchored digitally. Everyone who's seen it has thought it is cool!

Puntos a favor:

Pre-timeular I never quite knew where my time was going, and if asked to estimate how long a project would take, I would have nothing to go on. As a result, I would often end up overcommitted and overwhelmed. Post-timeular, I can see at a glance how my day or week has been spent, and can call up a report to give my supervisor estimates on the fly. Gone are the days of never having the answer. Now, I always have personal data at my fingertips!

Puntos en contra:

It might take a while to get in the habit of flipping your Timeular as you go throughout your day, but I find it helps me transition between work blocks and focus in on what I am doing. You may also feel limited by only having 8 sides, so think hard about how you want to assign those. But once you've established categories that work for you and a rhythm, you are set! The only con is that the base is not rechargeable, so every once in a while you will need to purchase a coin battery and install it. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if future models could be rechargeable.

Takes the pain out of time tracking

5,0 hace 6 años

Comentarios: As an attorney, I have to carefully track and record the time I spend working on client matters. If I overestimate my time, the client is overcharged (and will get rightfully annoyed); if I underestimate my time, my firm loses money and I lose credit. However, as a startup attorney I may work on 6-10 clients in an average day with rapid switching between them. All of this is to say that time tracking is both incredibly important to me job, and incredibly painful. I’ve tried our firm’s time-tracking timers, but having another window I have to attend to among the dozens of open documents on my computer is a headache. I’ve tried writing my time in notebooks, but it’s easy to lose track of my notes. Ultimately I always ended up spending a full day at the end of each month trying to rebuild lost time from emails (which likely resulted in underreporting my time). Timeular has revolutionized my time-tracking efforts. Using a physical object to change tasks removes the “yet another window” problem—and I almost never forget to switch because it’s always right there on my desk. But the software itself keeps track of the time, and the data is persistent across devices (including my phone), so I have easy access to a clean record of my time to reference when I’m logging my time entries on my firm’s time entry system. Time entry has gone from being the most dreaded and unpleasant part of my job, to something I no longer think about. It’s been amazing.

Puntos a favor:

-makes it fast and easy to switch between tasks -physical object for task-switching is superior to any software interface -data persistence across devices makes it easy to access time records and track time even when I’m away from my computer

Puntos en contra:

-insufficient instructions provided to get up-and-running with the software; I had to use some trial and error at first -would be nice to be able to fine-tune the settings a bit, such as being able to customize the minimum time recorded (currently set at 1 minute)

The only time-tracking tool that has stuck!

5,0 hace 2 años

Puntos a favor:

I started out using Timeular's multi-faceted die when I first became a user. The physical presence of the die is what helped me form the time-tracking habit – something I had never been able to achieve with other tools like Harvest, Toggle, etc. Over the years, I was able to retire the die and now I use the desktop app all day, every day, and I can't imagine my work life without it!

Puntos en contra:

There's really nothing I don't like about it! The mobile app is a little slow, but that's really the only downside.

Does Time Tracking, not much else

5,0 hace 2 años

Puntos a favor:

Great for tracking time for yourself or for small teams. If you need more features, look somewhere else.

Puntos en contra:

It's getting more and more expensive. Yes, many competitors charge more, but they also offer more features. Also, there's no longer an option to purchase the software without paying monthly subscription fees.

Time tracking for people who hate time sheets!

5,0 hace 6 años

Comentarios: Timeular has made time tracking a breeze! I am far more accurate with my time reports (no more guessing based on calendar notes), my time reporting takes far less of my time each week (literally just transposing numbers, rather than trying to remember what I did with all my time), and it also helps me stay on task or be intentional about what I am switching to.

Puntos a favor:

I love the physical representation of what I'm supposed to be working on as a constant reminder on my desk. This helps me either stay on task or forces me to admit that I've jumped to another project that should be tracked separately. The reports you can pull are also extremely helpful when I have to fill out my official time sheet at work.

Puntos en contra:

I would love a 1-week overview broken down by day. Since my office won't let me directly integrate with our time reporting software, I'd love to see Sunday - Saturday with the time categories of each day all in one screen (this would make it much easier to add my time into our timesheet). I can still get this data one day at a time, it just isn't as convenient.

Keeping track of your time

4,0 hace 5 años

Comentarios: It is great for keeping detailed (or not so detailed) track of time. It records to the hour / minute your activities which you can then copy to your time management solution. Or invest time in an API interface. Now my colleagues know what it is, there is less picking up the device. Luckily, even when they do that, it is easy to correct the time. For anyone who wants to know how much time the spend on what, this is a great tool.

Puntos a favor:

The software and the hardware (an eight sided double pyramid joined at the bottom) allows you to keep track of what you are doing during the day. For many people filling in timesheets or other time registration tools is a matter of after the fact remembering ... what did I do last week). With Timeular you assign activities to one of the eight sides and the one that is facing up, that is the task you are doing. You put the device in its holder if you are not using it and it rests on one tip so no activity.

Puntos en contra:

The bluetooth connection sometimes get lost and reconnects again. There could be a better mechanism for starting and stopping tasks.

Decent for task-tracking without time card export

4,0 hace 6 años

Comentarios: I use it mainly for tracking progress on projects and time fractions spent doing various tasks, and NOT for the time-tracking capability that is central to the design of the product. I enjoy recording notes about what I do throughout the day, and I enjoy understanding better how long it takes me to do some tasks to enhance my work time estimation skills. The device also serves as a constant reminder of what I am doing, and I have acquired a keen habit of looking at it to remember what I was just doing, or to remember what I must do next. Ultimately, though, ZEI and Timeular don't do enough of what I want them to do. By updating the ZEI to use USB-recharged Li-Ion batteries, passive electronics and a connectivity failure sound from the device, the ZEI itself would be very future-proof as a platform. By including more usability and hierarchy in activities and notes features would be the biggest benefit to my user experience. I leverage the activity tracking strictly to understand my time use better and to stay on task. Timeular does some of this but not enough. Please see my "Cons:" section for a few feature request details. I hope they are helpful, I would very highly recommend the product with these software-only feature updates! Multi-colored markers would be cool, too, or perhaps a smooth plastic material that permits permanent ink to be erased with a solvent wipe without damage.

Puntos a favor:

The basic fundament of it is great. The ZEI caught my eye 2 years ago when it was still in development, and the design of the octahedron tracking current activity seemed great. When it is working, I really enjoy the ability to track all the tasks I engage in daily to better estimate time use, and take notes for different things. My position at my small company involves wearing many hats, and tracking which hat I am wearing for how long is very useful. I do not even use the time card export feature set - the primary purpose of ZEI and Timeular - and I still find some benefit.

Puntos en contra:

Feature request: the ZEI should have a lithium ion battery and USB charging, with rotation-triggered connection after standing it on a corner in the stand puts it to sleep. In my opinion, the device should not need a button press to turn it on once it has been connected - my biggest qualms with the physical device are that it intermittently needs to be reconnected. If the device fails to connect on a turn, a simple beep from the device would probably be the best feature to reduce pain level at intermittent connectivity - an inherent problem with Bluetooth devices. For Timeular itself: with my use for complex task management, the interface is a little restrictive. I find that 8 activities alone are insufficient, and I have to manually adjust many activities to a different type. Feature request: I would really enjoy the option to set 8 *types* of activities, and every time I flip the device I am prompted to sub-select a specific task. The notifications through Windows 10 are sufficient to mediate these prompts. For example, "Meetings" as a type, with sub-types for each team I might meet with. Perhaps this is met by allowing an activity to be set as an "activity class", and if the prompt is not answered then the unspecified activity class remains for later review. Also, a prompt for entering notes upon a flip would be equally sweet. Even sweeter would be a "default notes entry" for each activity or activity class that pre-writes some of the notes field for me.

Great Tool I Recommend to Anyone

5,0 hace 2 años

Comentarios: I got timeular as a way to track my working patterns, consciously switch between tasks better, and to help my time reporting for the client work I was involved with at the time. Our client required us to estimate our work for the upcoming sprint in hours, then only record our time against those subtasks that had the hour estimates on them.As you can imagine, this was a horrible system. It was hard to keep track of, even by lunch, all the things I had bounced between and spent time on helping to fix. Heavens forbid you might forget to record your time against these hour estimates for a day or two, good luck remembering everything you worked on.With Timeular I just had to look at the insights at the end of the week. Broke it down by day to record my time on their application, and I could provide exact amounts of time for each fifteen minute block. The client still ended up getting some free time so we could get some features out the door, but I was able to stand firmly and say no when I knew I had already put in a bunch of extra hours in a week and they needed to just wait.

Puntos a favor:

This cube and its associated software have helped me focus my efforts to work on specific tasks, and to set healthy boundaries with my client so that I was no longer working so many unpaid hours. I was able to have this data in my back pocket so I knew exactly how long I had worked on each task. If they wanted to track us by fifteen minute intervals, I was going to have data for the minute by minute of every day. I was able to set much healthier boundaries in my work/life balance and limit the number of hours the client was getting for free. Just the act of turning the Timeular cube to correspond with the task I want to now start focusing on is a mental trigger for my brain to switch into that task's headspace. It has helped me be more intentional about what I am working on and how much time I devote to each type of task for my day. The analytics / increased reporting is definitely worth it just to learn more about your own working patterns.

Puntos en contra:

The only possible con I could see for this product and software is for a company to require its developers to provide them with all of the data they generate in a day. I mean, on one hand that could be seen as fair. If you're going to have people record their hours in a timesheet, might as well have an immediately digestible dynamic timesheet. But idk, I like being fully transparent with myself about how I spend my time and when. It's not like my company doesn't always come out on top in these situations, but do they need to know every time I spend 23 minutes in the bathroom? (random example that would NEVER happen surely...)

Wonderfully low friction for consulting

5,0 hace 2 años

Comentarios: Timeular has been a wonderful tool throughout my switch from a traditional 8-5 where we used Kronos timekeeping software, to a flexible consulting gig. It has worked excellently whether I'm at my desk, addressing a call while out and about, or visiting clients. Most of all, I stuck with it because it is very low friction.

Puntos a favor:

Plain and simple, I first bought it because of the tracker. I have continued to use it because of the very low friction interfaces. It takes me no more than a few seconds to start or stop a time entry, or even add a missed entry. And I can do any of those from my desk, main computer, laptop, or phone.

Puntos en contra:

I'm never a fan of subscription services when a one-time purchase could suffice. I do however appreciate that the software team does make monthly, and many times weekly updates to the software. Most of the time these updates tune the interface to be a little bit sleeker, or add a new feature. There is a slight annoyance to constantly see a new update is available

PLEASE add the ability to reorganize activities!

4,0 hace 2 años

Comentarios: Overall great, but again, having the ability to re-organize and move activities between spaces would make this product 100% in my book.Thank you.

Puntos a favor:

It's pretty easy to use. I get a good visual sense of how I've spent my day and in what parts of the day. I like using Command+E on the Mac to quickly add a new entry. That makes tracking things very fast. The insights tab is also great at being able to break everything down by spaces, tags, activities, etc.

Puntos en contra:

Yes! I've been saying this since the day I signed up for Timeular: please add the ability to re-organize activities between spaces! It seems a bit ridiculous that you can rename Spaces, Activities, and Tags, but you can't move activities between spaces. The way I initially set up my Timeular workflow (with some activities in certain spaces and not others) was quite random as I was still playing around with the software. I now have a better idea of how I'd like to organize my workflow, and which activities should go within their respective spaces, but I can't change anything! It's as if I'm being punished as the user for not completely understanding off the bat, how to set up my Timeular workspaces and their activities. This seems like a no brainer request and I'm a bit shocked it still hasn't been implemented yet. Keeping data siloed seems like a bad business approach to a piece of software that otherwise is very customizable and functional. PLEASE make this change! Thank you.

Easiest, Most Versatile Tracking That I Didn't Know I Needed

5,0 hace 2 años

Comentarios: I love it. I've recommended it to a number of people, who likely never used my affiliate link, but I know several who got one after I bragged about it. And, at least one person got some for her team.

Puntos a favor:

For anyone with "walking through a doorway" syndrome or who's just starting out with time tracking, this is where to start (and stop). I wouldn't waste time and money on another one. Try this first. I love that the die sites right in front of me. Unlike apps that I can forgot to open, that they're already open, or to click start/stop, the die sitting in front of my is easy to spot and easier to spot when it's turned to a task and not in its dock.

Puntos en contra:

I wish I could integrate my work calendar (Proton Calendar) for meetings and events into it so I can see those next to my tracked/to-be tracked hours. 'Was I at that meeting longer than scheduled?' Or, 'I see my meeting for project X in on Friday, so I need to make sure I track my hours for that this week.' For all I know, it already does this. I need to play with it more.

Tangible Time Tracking

Comentarios: I appreciate that they are pretty regularly releasing improvements and new features.

Puntos a favor:

The software is beautiful to look at and reasonably easy to use, but the killer feature is the physical cube. It was always a struggle for me to remember to track my time, but after I got the cube, it became second nature. Its physical presence on my desk was all the nudge I needed.

Puntos en contra:

Would be nice if I could get to tags with fewer keystrokes, but still works great.

An organizer's dream

5,0 hace 6 años

Comentarios: The main business problem that Timeular is successfully solving for me is that I bill on a time/materials basis, and Timeular accurately tracks my time base on category without me having to use a more manual system to do that. I also shows me full history of how I'm using my time, which is really informative for my habits. I've become easily more productive since using Timeular vs before that, and just have so much more information about some of the intangible details about my clients so that I can serve them better and manage my time better.

Puntos a favor:

The timeular software has a dashboard interface that is intuitive, easy to use, and integrates well with my mac. I appreciate how there is a place for notes for each time entry, that time can be edited after the fact, and that there is a way to export and sort my time based on category (and even by note).

Puntos en contra:

It takes up a lot of active RAM memory, which noticeably slowed down actual computer usage on the macbook air. I had to upgrade my computer with our IT department so that it would run OK. Sometimes, the bluetooth does not respond when I try to turn it on; sometimes the bluetooth is not as responsive and will connect/disconnect based on how far away I was from my dice, which would stop recording time if the dice was not active (or if I remotely changed a category). I work in the agency space, and have more than 8 clients (categories), so an option for a bigger dice (20 sided?) would be way more useful to me. I've essentially stopped using the dice because I can use the app with my pro plan to add more than 8 categories. I wish there were more color options for the categories!

Tangible way to track time

4,0 hace 3 años

Comentarios: I manage my time better with Timeular. I am able to compartmentalize tasks and stay more focused with the visual reminder of the task at hand.

Puntos a favor:

I like that it's an off-screen way to track time. Sometimes I don't to be attached to my screen but I still need to track how long a project is taking me. The cube is also a good visual cue to start and end tracking time. When I was using other time-tracking apps, I would just forget to open the program on my computer. The charts are also really help to get a big-picture view of my week, month, or year.

Puntos en contra:

My tracker will sometimes disconnect for an unknown reason, and I won't realize that it wasn't tracking time until I look at the calendar in the app later. In those cases, I have had to estimate the time I spent and add it to the calendar manually.

The product is easy to use as you can set it up exactly to your liking. The Timeular team is very responsive and open to adding new features.

Puntos en contra:

It would be great if you can add certain tags to people within your company. For example which team they belong to, or other such tags, that make it easier to filter. (I am aware that I can create filters manually, but I would prefer an automatic system).

I was looking for a solution like Timeular for a while. The online and mobile tracking is quite crucial for my work and day to day planning. I like the small cube and ease of use particularly. With the statistics I have all tasks and working hours for projects and tasks alike always available.

Puntos en contra:
