Tracs has been good to us! Was a little overwelming to get started because it can do so much.

The things we like are the ability to make estimates that are complete and ready to turn into repair orders that are already finished when the car arrives. All aspects of the work order are modifiable at any time. Notes are easy to apply and sub estimates stay in history. It is easy to export to Quick Books. The support team has been able to keep us up and running. Our rep. is great! he is there for us when we want to take Tracs to the next step, or if we have a crisis. (such as a computer crash Friday night and a new set up on Sunday)

Puntos en contra:

It would be nice if you could open multiple windows or history RO's over top of each other for clip board pasting or searching history. would be nice to look at history RO's and be able to open the parts items and see where they were purchased. Would be nice if Pro link would not close until you closed it while working on a repair order. Would be nice if the labor estimator had a more detailed menu (more choices)

Hi Rick, We are currently working on a version that will allow you to have multiple windows open at once. This upgrade will be made avaialbe to all current users by end of Q3 2018. The Labor guide in NAPA TRACS is a direct interface to Mitchell PRODemand Labor. HINT! Use a Wild Card to narrow your search. Type WAT* for Water Pump and you will see where that labor is. You are one click away from there! M1 is working on type ahead functionality in the labor section. Will make it easier for the customer to get where they wan to go.

Benefits of NAPA TRACS

Comentarios: I really like Napa TRACS. Anytime i need to access invoices or estimates i can simply hook up to my laptop and move forward. I didn't need to buy any special electronics to utilize the product. Being able to let the consumer see how professional and sophisticated the software looked was a huge bonus and made my store even more appealing.

Puntos a favor:

Being able to look up VIN's and license plate numbers really help in accurately identifying a vehicle.

Puntos en contra:

Some small glitches may occur, so you need to check your invoices before you finalize anything. Really not that big an issue, since you should be double checking anyways.

TRACS DOES IT ALL!!!

Comentarios: It's been a good experience over all. TRACS, for us, is an all-in-one tool, that we utilize on a daily basis. From diagnostics, to ordering parts, to keeping track of the expenses on repairs to each individual vehicle, TRACS does it all.

Convenience in ordering parts specific to my saved vehicles. Also, keeping a catalog of our vehicles and equipment.

Pricing would have to be the only con. We have 4 mechanics and 2 shops. It gets a bit expensive for our small business.

Napa Enterprise is a good software to use to manage small business and easy to use. The work order management is a great system and is a huge improvement from Napa Legacy.

Puntos en contra:

Big downer is when receiving payment you can only receive one payment at a time and you must type in the amount to receive. Napa Legacy would auto fill in the amount with the customer balance and after receiving payment you could select another customer. Napa Enterprise makes it so you have to exit the payment screen and reload it to select another customer. Slows down receiving to a crawl.

Comentarios: Once you figure out the system and know how to find parts with partial part numbers or by a single word description it was much easier to use.

A simple screen layout makes it easy to navigate through the system to access information.

Puntos en contra:

It is very hard to search unless you know the exact part number or unit number. It is very important to change the search options to match what is being entered, like the fleet number instead of invoice number.

Comentarios: The longer I use, it is getting easier to use, I would not want to go back to writing out tickets.

Good overall shop management solution if you have an extremely great computer system.

Comentarios: Still plugging along with this hoping things will improve. The platform has the potential to be the best in the industry but needs a ton of cleanup in the code, improvement with the integrations and frankly, the price point is exorbitant for something with as many issues.

Overall a great shop management tool. Full featured and handles most all aspects of your shop from estimate through invoice along with history and accounting reports.

The code that drives the software is very klunky. It's so heavy to run that the best computer you can buy off the shelf at your local electronics supplier will struggle to keep up. Be prepared to invest in a computer that is WAY above average in both processor power and ram. Otherwise you'll be restarting your Napa Tracs several times a day to release the memory the software has bogged everything down with. Often by lunch time on a busy day I'll find I "click" a tab and wait upwards of 2 minutes for the software to move. So a restart becomes mandatory. Altogether, this process costs me more time than the otherwise convenient software saves. Additionally, parts tech catalog integration is dismal at best. Works ok for looking up parts across your vendors and transferring said parts to a work order, but you cannot order from it any more. You still have to go to your individual vendor, look the parts up again and then order from there.

Comentarios: For the most part, the program isn't too bad. It is relatively user friendly. In the "Cons" block is a list of issues that were noticed and some ideas that could make the system more user friendly.

The Schedule is easy to use. Ordering parts is very easy. ROs are clean and easy to read.

Shows another workstation in WO when they are not Unable to edit Part number Shows zero communication to order (1 on RO, 0 on PO; none in stock) If unsaved "New" RO is Open, will Default to that one when trying to start another New RO Anytime a RO is started, it should generate an appointment block Under "Appointments" tab, allow limiting to a single day. Receive all open PO’s at once Can’t drag an item to the bottom, sometimes have trouble dragging the bottom item up Put key tag number box in appointment window An option to not print “repair notes” on job ticket Merging vehicles sometimes erases the history of vehicle moved Better highlighting of which Sub-Est is open When doing a “history” search, after taking action (invoicing) going back to the search list, it is not updated, (still shows as a repair order) Canceling a RO should delete the appointment When adjusting price, amount does not highlight. Needs more info when VIN decoding (is it 4X4 for example) Automatically save and close a RO after __ (20?) minutes of inactivity. Show how the backup is progressing A real nice addition, be able to highlight text At times, the system moves very slow and freezes, requiring a soft restart of TRACS. This can cause all updates to a RO to be lost.

Best Repair Shop Software Available

Comentarios: Tracs has increased our average repair order, helped us increase our productivity, helped us be more profitable on both parts and labor and helped us retain our customer base.

Multi location software we have 14 locations; recommended services; service history; easy of creating multiple estimates; available reports to analyze business; inventory control; being able to separate types of sales, batteries, tires, oil, labor, parts, towing, etc.; electronic ordering of parts; windows based for ease of learning

I am had pressed to write anything about what I dislike there is very little. The only thing I can say is Tracs has lost invoices but I am not 100% sure it is the software's fault most likely internet interruption issues from client to server.

Comentarios: So far its pretty good I would recommend it. It has a few glitches as does everything but overall It does what I need it to do and I keep finding new stuff the more I investigate so by next year I will know even more about it.

Tracs is generally a easy program to use for beginners and does everything you need in a business to keep customers and production in the office moving along.

I liked the old way to look up parts, before we switched to enterprise. It was a better system for me and it had a little more information I felt. I also don't like how every time I order something it erases anything I have wrote in my work order where the part listing is. I like to label my parts and it erases any labels I add.

I have never used another shop management system before TRACS, the update from TRACS Legacy to TRACS Enterprise went well overall. I had more headaches updating our 3rd party integrated services than the TRACS update itself. New schedule view is great.

Puntos en contra:

Why was the in program browser build on Internet Explorer instead of Edge, Chrome, or Firefox? With IE any time the browser hangs it freezes the whole program. Auto linking of Tech-Bay, or allowing the schedule to view by tech instead of by bay. Allow a client to kick another client out of an appointment, or don't have an appointment also lock the work order.

Comentarios: It actually ruins parts of my day, every day , try having a customer standing in front of you waiting for 3 estimates. I go to O'Reilly's website and look up the parts faster and type them into the Napa Tracs estimate or I would be here all day....

This category is asking for 40 words on what I like. I don't have 40 words. I have been in the automotive repair business for many years. there is nothing about this software that works for this business. Why fix what wasn't broken.

Work orders not easy to access, parts look up is way too complicated !!! I worked for Napa for 10 years so how to, and part numbers are not a problem for me. Takes the fast pace out of a a fast paced shop, the parts availability is like looking for gold, time consuming. Go look at O Reilly's website, please Simple, informative. The old Tracs had its flaws, but was very workable( daily I deal with at least 10 invoices a day.). . click on an invoice and go. Now you spend literally 3 minutes trying to get the invoice to alphabetize. Just to open it.

Awesome shop management system.

The ability to import parts from vendors other then Napa including Dealers is a great feature. Having all of my pervious repair order in one place that is easy to search is also great.

Puntos en contra:

I would like the see the ability to set an item as bulk to save time on inventory. When I order bulk oil from Napa I have to order outside of tracs then manually enter the quantity. If I order the oil through tracs it will show that the bulk item's part number has 1 on hand with a total price for say 55 gallons. If you enter that number on a customer repair order it will sell them all 55 gallons when they only need 5-6 quart. I would be nice to tell the software that such and such a part number is a bulk item and to sell it by the quart and have the software calculate the price per quart from the total.

Happy but some room for improvement

I like being able to check the parts at the NAPA store, I also like the capability to look up the times for the labor estimates.

Puntos en contra:

I do not like to have the caps lock on all the time and I would really prefer to be able to see on the invoice when customers have made multiple payments and what the final total is when telling them it is done and not have to figure out what payments they have made and what their balance is.

Hi, you might be on our Legacy platform. You do not have to use the caps lock all of the time, That is a user preference. TRACS Enterprise 3.3 allows also has the features you are looking that you describe in your post. would you like someone to contact you about upgrading?

glitchy program

Comentarios: over all I do like tracs and plan to continue using it however I do feel that the program could be improved if some of the bugs were worked out of it

I do like that tracs lets me move in and out of Mitchel as well as prolink for parts ordering we also integrate it with autovitals

tracs uses A LOT of power to run this makes the program slow and glitchy esp. when intergrading it with autovitals witch also uses a lot of power the software is prone to locking up and sometimes is very sensitive where you click at on the screen

Hill's Napa Tracs Review

Comentarios: Hasn't been a good experience for us. No one want's to listen to our problems or resolve those problems. I emailed several complaints to I guess if you want to call the sales reps they do not reply. WE ARE NOT TAKING ANY OF THE COURSES DON'T SEE NO NEED TO AND YOU NEED TO LET THEM KNOW THAT SO THAT WE CAN QUIT GETTING EMAILS FROM NAPA TRACS!

Two things 1.We don't have to have the Main Server up and running so now another user can run his without the Main Server on. 2. Don't have to worry about doing a backup everyday, it does it on it's own. The OLD (Legacy Tracs) SYSTEM was BETTER.

Puntos en contra:

We use this for parts sales only, we do not use here for Service Tickets that would be a question that you need to ask our Restoration Shop, we have two different businesses here. I believe we need to look for a new system. We have input some request on the old system, but you pretty much ignored us on that at the time and pretty much ignored us on the new system. Whoever programs the system needs to ask the users what we need not what they want to see.
