Comentarios: I like the idea of working with Gantt diagram, it is much more understandable to see everything generalized in this type of digram, for my team and for me personally it has been pleasant and very easy to take our projects to the level of communication and collaboration

Puntos a favor: The interface is sophisticated, created, to be used intelligently by users, allows to manage economic, human and material resources, projecting everything in a timeline diagrammed in Gantt, from the basics to the most complex, managing to follow up on everything important, even the faults

Contras: The price to pay per user may be excessive for some people and companies

Comentarios: I have been able to track mulitple team members working on multiple projects in Omniplan with ease

Contras: Import / Export feature can be a little better.
MPP like / Tabular interface for Data Entry the first time would be an easier / quicker way to create new projects.

Puntos a favor: Most people know about *task*-management software (OmniFocus is a great one) that help you prioritize and track your to-do items. In contrast, few people know about *project*-management software. If you have to manage a project with lots of moving parts, delegate tasks to several people, and develop contingency plans for when some components of a project are delayed, then OmniPlan is for you. It is, hands-down, the best project-management software on macOS. You can develop your project plan in nested outline format, and a Gantt chart is created easily. Assign tasks to others. Add estimated time requirements, milestones, and due dates. And for really complicated projects, Monte Carlo simulation can help you get a sense for a realistic completion date. It's great!

Contras: There's more of a learning curve for project management than there is for task management. But the videos on the OmniGroup's web site help a lot.

Comentarios: In the meetings we managed to have a general vision of the progress of four projects that we had in execution with offices located in three different cities, even though we did not have enough apple equipment for all, it was very helpful to use this platform and its advanced methodology to achieve finalize the projects on the proposed dates

Puntos a favor: It allows you to create and plan your projects as a great workflow, you can visualize in a gantt diagram the progress of the tasks from beginning to end, it is a sophisticated tool with advanced functions that helps you to achieve your goals and those of your work team

Contras: It is available only for apple devices, which makes it very difficult to use, a window version would be ideal. We only managed to use it from a MAC and three iPads available for some members of the work team

Comentarios: When working on macs this is one of the best project management applications and makes collaboration easy with the variety of exports available from the application including web share.

Puntos a favor: Omniplan has the same interface as other Omni products so made use easier if you know any of their other pieces of software. Sharing is super easy as you have a variety of ways of exporting the plans to share with anyone not having omniplan. The import is great also as you can take from a variety of other programs and import the data into something usable by omniplan. The gantt function is great and really helps visually plan a project.

Contras: Not too many, one of them would be when working on a larger project the app can sometimes crash do to memory constraints it seems so good idea to save often.

Comentarios: It is a great tool for those needing a simple tool.

Puntos a favor: This is a very basic, easy to use Project Management tool. If you are already an Omni user (Graffle, Focus) and need simple PM then I would recommend this. It is a first class Mac application.

Contras: This is not as powerful as Merlin. If you really need powerful Mac project management I would recommend you look to Merlin first.

Puntos a favor: They layout and functionality of this product is spot-on. I love the hierarchy design for tasks, as well as report and schedule tracking.

Contras: The biggest issue that I have had with this software is the my file uploads don't always work. I'm not sure if it's because there's just so much data that can be stored for projects, or if there is a lag in the system.

Comentarios: Having worked with various other planning and to-do list software, I am reminded of the elegance of OmniGroup's software, namely OmniPlan, for using with a team. When time and resource estimates are valuable to your planning but other web-based services are bloated and ugly, enter OmniPlan. If you and your team are Mac-centric, this is a great and superior option to many others in this space.

Puntos a favor: Gantt charts, resource allocation, Monte Carlo simulations, planning extensibility

Contras: Mac only, a bit pricey, great if everyone can get on the same page

Puntos a favor: Whether you are new to project planning or an experienced hand in need of the most powerful features such as Monte Carlo simulation, OmniPlan has something to offer you. You can create a barebones project plan with a simple Gantt chart, and the you can expand and add details as needed. The granularity is really one of the main strengths of this magnificent app.

Contras: With so many features and options for customization, it is easy to get lost in tinkering and trying new stuff. Especially as a new or inexperienced user, you need to check yourself and only use the features you need - otherwise, the grand perspective of your project can drown in details.

Comentarios: I line the product for a stand-alone project planning tool. It is not the right product if you need multiple users.

Puntos a favor: It is easy to use. It works. It does everything the big competitor does.

Contras: Only available on the Mac which limits the ability to deploy it to large project teams, no support for a server version

Comentarios: It is excellent to use it in projects that require a rigorous monitoring from different areas of our company, so we are in tune and synchronized in each task assigned to their managers, the projects are completed on time with the best quality and that generates greater credibility in our customers.

Puntos a favor: One of the best features of this software is the Gantt diagram visualization, its objective is to help the user to efficiently manage their projects with visual tools that allow a clear and accurate monitoring of each process and task to be executed in the project.

Contras: The limitation of use only for Apple equipment, it would be great to be able to use it in another type of operating system, its scope would be greater.

Comentarios: It is a software that has everything you expect to increase your productivity and the efficiency of your work team and it has been a unique experience of collaboration and communication

Puntos a favor: It is a multiplatform project manager, the interface is very well structured, it is a visual software that gives you the experience of tracking tasks through a timeline in which you can detect critical knots to solve, it also integrates perfectly with Microsoft Project

Contras: It is available only for apple devices and therefore it is a software is expensive for some companies

Puntos a favor: Extremely easy to use and you can make very simple but visually appealing Gantt charts but there are also plenty of advanced features for more power or in-depth users. I really like it for creating critical path schedules that are easy to follow for presentations and to discuss with Owner's, clients, etc.

Contras: No cons really, I would just say that for many people it can be hard to get over the high up-front cost of the program. Would be really nice to have a monthly payment option instead.

Comentarios: OmniPlan is your answer if you need to do project management natively on the Mac. It is a fantastic answer to MS Project on MacOS!

Puntos a favor: Easy to use as long as you have a basic understanding of project management software

Contras: I wish there were more collaboration options to use OmniPlan along with a web-based tool like Teamwork and integrate the two in real time.

Comentarios: Automatic resource leveling (if you want it). Simple interface and easy design. I tried a bunch of the 'suggested' tools on this website and they all seem to be either missing the resource leveling or are extremely klunky. This tool is simple and works perfect. I'm sold after a few hours of playing with it.

Puntos a favor: I have been using Omni software for years. They always have a great balance of design and function. OmniPlan delivers for project management and is very easy to use.

Contras: high upfront cost. Would love an option of paying monthly or have other ways to use the software
