Comentarios: Single Sign On (SSO) was the biggest benefit. Happy users was the other. Really its not fully utilized and feel like we have been paying for it like a gym membership. You want to use it but users are lazy and find ways not too. And since it only supports Cloud and web applications, local apps are left out. This though isn't a issue for us as we have more than enough to justify the expense of OKTA.

Puntos a favor: First, OKTA is so easy to use, it really has a great interface. Was very simple to setup. Although I personally had a issue with the local client for AD it was a user issue not a OKTA issue. I found its integration is really seamless, and have very little management outside of the regular self audits I do and answering questions if someone has one.

Puntos en contra: Support. Don't get me wrong the support is top notch, but I didn't get the enterprise level and sometimes feel the brush off. If i had questions during setup they wanted me to buy a service set to get more money from me. I really just had quick questions. Companies that charge for setup support frustrate me as I just spent money with you and you want more before i even get it running. I think the licensing costs are fair but more than what I would expect from a cloud company just managing authentication for me.

Puntos a favor: Our users save minutes every single day, no longer repetitively typing and re-typing their directory password. When we have had issues with applications, their support has been extremely responsive. They also take what the community builds as custom applications and will roll those into the app library as they put polish on them and make them ready for prime time.

Puntos en contra: The only downside to Okta is cost. We know these systems are not cheap and Okta is one of the premium models for sure. We decided that with a system which was so user intensive and users had to touch many times per day for logging into applications, we were not willing to sacrifice usability for what came down to not a lot of money. I will tell you that the list pricing on their website is very negotiable. If you can find some other customers to talk pricing to you you'll know that good deals are there if you work it correctly with your account team and their sales cycle.
