The steep learning curve for advanced configurations was the biggest challenge. Setting up clustering, auto-scaling, proper security (tokens, SSL, stream authentication), and fine-tuning performance required significant time and trial-and-error. The documentation is decent for basic setups, but it often lacks clear, real-world examples for more complex production deployments. Monitoring and observability could be much better. The dashboard shows raw metrics (CPU, memory, bitrate, etc.), but it doesn’t provide deep insights into stream health, viewer experience, or why a particular issue might be occurring. Debugging problems under load sometimes felt like guesswork. We also hit scaling limits on a single instance. Even on a powerful server, we started seeing instability and unexpected behavior once we exceeded around 400–500 concurrent WebRTC connections. In some cases, we noticed visible quality drops or inconsistencies when the server switched between resolutions, especially under varying network conditions.
